The Scuba Dive opened in Riverton, Utah in 2020 as a full dive facility: a retail floor, classrooms, an in-house service bench, and a 14-foot indoor training pool. They teach PADI and SDI courses from Open Water through Divemaster, rent gear, and run group dive trips. We built them a new website where students book and pay for classes on the shop’s own site, scubadiveriverton.com.

The problem

To book a class, students left the shop’s website for a separate booking system. The shop’s own site was not where the sale happened.

Every booking then turned into desk work. Staff checked the inbox, typed the student into their Lightspeed point of sale, added them to the class calendar by hand, and wrote an email from a template with the e-learning code, the waiver and medical form links, the class schedule, and the gear list. The shop put it at 5 to 10 minutes per booking when nobody interrupted. A Saturday night signup often waited until Monday. When a class filled up, someone typed “CLASS SOLD OUT” into its listing by hand.

What we built

A custom website with booking and payments built in, not bolted on:

  • Booking and card payments on the shop’s own site. Students pick a course and a class date, say how many divers are coming, and pay by card on the page. They never leave scubadiveriverton.com.
  • Waivers and medical forms online. After paying, each diver can sign their waiver and medical questionnaire as part of booking. Staff can see who is still pending and follow up before the first class.
  • Seats that count themselves. Every class tracks its open spots, and a class drops off the public schedule once it has started.
  • A back office the staff runs themselves. Staff log in to manage courses and class dates, move a student to another class, issue refunds, and print or save a clean roster for each class.
  • The shop’s cancellation policy where students see it. The policy shows on course pages and at checkout, and the shop can edit it per course or shop wide.
  • Lightspeed stays. The shop kept its Lightspeed point of sale for the store. Class sales are entered into Lightspeed by hand, by the shop’s choice: it keeps them aware of who is signing up.
Booking on scubadiveriverton.com at the step that asks how many divers are coming, with the flow from Schedule through Confirm.
Booking happens on the shop’s own site, from picking a class through payment and paperwork.
Open Water class dates on scubadiveriverton.com, with session times, one spot left, and the cancellation policy next to Reserve.
Every class shows its open seats, and the shop’s cancellation policy sits right next to the Reserve button.

Results

Booking and card payments went live on September 3, 2026. The first real booking was paid that same night.

In the 24 hours before our September 14 check-in, two new students booked online, one for Scuba Discovery and one for Open Water. Neither had been in the shop’s system before, and neither came from a link the shop sent. Customers were filling out their waivers without being asked, and the owner refunded a booking from the shop’s own admin, with the refund showing up in Stripe.

Let’s talk.

If your customers still leave your site to book, text us at (801) 613-8659. The person you text is the person who builds. Prefer email? info@toprocklabs.com.
